Original Story

A Cumberland Farms employee is in critical condition after he was dragged by a truck driven by thieves who stole David Hasselhoff signs early Tuesday.

Police received a 911 call reporting a man with a head injury at Cumberland Farms, 819 River Road at 1:15 a.m. said Lt. Robert Kozlowsky.

The man, 36, was transported to Bridgeport Hospital.

"The initial investigation revealed that a black SUV pulled into the lot of Cumberland Farms. The victim later observed a white male get out of the vehicle and cut two ‘David Hasseloff’ advertisement signs off of a light pole. The male then put the signs in the back of the vehicle," Kozlowsky said.

"The victim approached the vehicle in an attempt to get the signs back. The vehicle then sped away and the victim was dragged and then he spun around and flipped backwards landing on his head. The vehicle headed on River Rd towards Stratford," Kozlowsky said.

Police said detectives are reviewing surveillance video and speaking with witnesses.

They are looking for a black SUV with a white male driver, a white female in the front passenger seat, and a white male in the back seat. Police are asking anyone with any information to contact the detective bureau at (203) 924-1544.
