Shelton High School Senior, one of 12 winning 2025 NSDAR Excellence in American History Awards

Twelve area schools participated in the 2025 NSDAR Excellence in American History Awards

Sarah Riggs Humphreys-Mary Silliman Chapter, NSDAR, Inc. congratulate the following students, who were presented a certificate and a bronze medal at their Senior Awards Ceremonies to recognize them for being outstanding students of American History:

Shelton High School senior Megan Renda was #5 in her class, an outstanding student, athlete and individual. Megan said she has always enjoyed history classes and plans to attend Marist University to study sports communication.

Colleen Piatak of St. Joseph High School said, “Nicole Bodnarik is a wonderful young lady”.

Bunnell High School senior Siobhan Nunn was also Salutatorian.

DAR promotes American history throughout the year and encourages everyone to be more informed about their heritage. The Sarah Riggs Humphreys-Mary Silliman Chapter participates in the American History Awards annually and thanks area schools for recognizing their high school students who excel in American History.

The DAR is a non-profit women’s service organization dedicated to historic preservation, education and patriotism. Any woman over 18 who can prove lineal descent from an ancestor who served in the American Revolution is a prospective member.
