Shelton Man Accused Of Producing Child Pornography Sentenced To Prison: Feds

A Shelton man who worked as a preschool teacher and an in-home nanny was sentenced to prison this week, according to court officials.

SHELTON, CT — A Shelton man accused of producing and possessing child pornography was sentenced Monday to 24 years in federal prison, followed by 10 years of supervised release, U.S. Attorney for the District of Connecticut David Sullivan announced in a news release.

According to court documents and statements made in court, a detective assigned to the Connecticut State Police Computer Crimes Unit began "an investigation into the sharing of child sex abuse images and videos over a peer-to-peer file sharing network" in March 2024.

The investigation revealed an internet protocol (IP) address assigned to the Shelton home of Ross DeLibro, 54, had been used to share child sex abuse videos, according to Sullivan.

The investigation also revealed DeLibro had worked since at least 2007 as a preschool teacher and in-home nanny for several families with young children in Connecticut and had a degree in early childhood education, Sullivan said.

According to Sullivan, DeLibro solicited in-home nanny business "through a popular and legitimate employment website."

On May 1, 2024, investigators conducted a court-authorized search of DeLibro's home and seized his Apple MacBook Air and iPhone, as well as an external hard drive and other items, Sullivan said.

"Analysis of the seized items revealed image and video files depicting male children being sexually abused…” Sullivan said in a news release.

DeLibro has been detained since his arrest on related state charges on June 11, 2024, Sullivan said.

DeLibro pleaded guilty to production of child pornography and possession of child pornography on May 15, Sullivan said.
