Shelton Nurse Suspended For Drug Abuse: Report

Two other nurses were suspended by the state's Board of Examiners for Nurses.

SHELTON, CT — A local nurse was suspended by the state's Board of Examiners for nurses Wednesday after charges that she took painkillers while working at St. Vincent's hospital, reports the Connecticut Health I-Team. Kathleen Baran of Shelton was accused of taking Dilaudid, morphine and/or percocet while working at the hospital.

She was also accused of abusing the painkillers to excess. She entered the HAVEN rehabilitation service in 2016, but discontinued treatment in April. The case was referred to the Department of Public Health.

Two other nurses were suspended Wednesday.
