Shelton Police Investigating Crash, Attempted Theft

Thursday afternoon was a busy time for Shelton police.

The first incident, an attempted purse snatching, took place at 3:15 p.m. near the Post Office at 83 Bridge St., said police Lt. Robert Kozlowsky, department spokesman.

A male tried to take a purse from a woman and had, according to her, "what appeared to the handle of a black pistol" in his jacket, police said.

He fled without taking anything, police added.

In the second incident, a reported motor vehicle rollover injured one person in the 300 area of Leavenworth Road about 9 p.m., Kozlowsky said. The patient was taken by ambulance to St. Vincent's Medical Center.

Both incidents are under investigation.
