The Shelton Police Department has provided a list of reminders to help residents protect their vehicles from thieves.

SHELTON, CT — The Shelton Police Department has provided a list of reminders to help residents protect their vehicles from thieves.
In a Facebook post Tuesday, police said many residents in Shelton have begun warming up their vehicles before heading out for work early in the morning due to the cold weather.
"Thieves know this," police wrote on Facebook, "and they look for running, unattended cars."

The Shelton Police Department reminds residents to:
- Never leave their vehicle running unattended.
- Use remote start when possible (doors stay locked).
- Keep their keys and key fob with them.
- Stay with their vehicle while it warms.
- Park in well-lit areas.
