How did you come up with the name?
I came up with the name as originally I wrote a children’s book called The Adventures Of The Giggling Pig. Giggles is the main character. I worked on a farm when I was a teen and adored the piglets.
Why choose that location? Why start a business in this town?

I chose the location because safety is a huge part of making this business successful. We have a great parking lot, safe surroundings, and even an outdoor art area. It’s convenient off Route 8 and the Merritt Parkway and the space is amazing.
Briefly, what business are you in?
This business is an art and party studio. We work with all ages from babies to adults. We are also a licensed camp and EpiPen and first aid certified. We teach all levels of art, hold organized events, we love celebrating birthdays and hosting baby showers and bachelorette parties too. Everything we do is creative.
What’s the most difficult moment or challenge you’ve faced as a business owner?

The most challenging thing I have faced as a business owner is having the courage to move locations. It was scary and we were still so new. But it was the best decision I ever made. I’ve learned to trust my instincts more.
Were there any challenges that made you second guess your decision to be an entrepreneur?
I second guess my self all the time. I keep myself on my toes. But then the customers come in and the kids draw pictures for us and we get huge hugs every day. That keeps me on the path of why I started this business to begin with and to keep moving forward.
What’s been your favorite moment or proudest achievement since opening?
There are always proud moments. But recently I posted a job opening and was amazed to have 42 people apply in 24 hours. That made me feel proud that the business wasn’t just somewhere I wanted to work, but a place where other people wanted to get Involved too.
What’s the most innovative idea your employees or customers have had that you put into practice?
We are given little ideas all the time. Last year a customer wanted a very specific gift for her daughter’s birthday-- a party in a bucket. So I created a paint tin, designed the label and filled it with with art supplies. She loved it and so did everyone else. We sold out over the holidays but we still sell them now.
How do you deal with difficult customers?
Well, dealing with difficult customers can be challenging but we just remind ourselves to be patient with them. Luckily it doesn’t happen very often but just being understanding of the situation always helps.
How does your business give back or get involved in the community?
We constantly give back to the community. We take care of families when they need out help.
Sometimes this is done privately, sometimes publicly if we need help raising awareness.
Last year I started a foundation called The Giggling Pig Family foundation. Money raised or donated is put into this account to help us pay for camp, art lessons and classes for families who can’t afford to attend.
