Shelton Spring Leaf Collection Starts April 29

Grab a rake if you want the city to pick up your leaves starting next week.

Time for spring yard cleaning.

Paul J. DiMauro, Director of Public Works, said recently that leaves will be picked up between April 29 and May 3.

Leaves will be picked up curbside.

"Leaves in paper bags should be at the curbside on the regular trash collection day," a notice from the city states. "Please be sure to keep leaf bags apart from your regular trash."

Leaves can only be bagged in biodegradable bags.

Also, the compost site, for leaves only, is located on Willoughby Road next to Elizabeth Shelton School. It will be open that same week,  Monday through Friray from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. and on Saturday from 7 a.m. to 12 p.m.

Residents bringing leaves to the Compost Site in containers other than biodegradable paper bags must remove non-conforming containers from the site.

 

All brush must be brought to the Transfer Station, 866 River Road, open Monday through Saturday, 7 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. weekly.
