According to Nugent, on April 14, Shelton police went to a residence on Coram Road to help locate a stolen police vehicle which had been taken in North Haven about 24 hours earlier.
Investigators executed a search warrant at Cano’s residence and recovered ammunition and other items that had been inside the vehicle, according to Nugent. Cano was not home when police did the search. He was located in Naugatuck later that day and taken into custody for charges related to the stolen vehicle, Nugent said.

On April 18, a resident from Coram Road, who lives near Cano, contacted Shelton police after finding a bag in the woods containing firearms and police equipment.
Police responded and found the bag contained four firearms, ammunition, and police equipment. Several of the items in the bag were connected to the stolen police vehicle, Nugent said.
State Department of Correction records show Cano remains incarcerated as of Friday, held on $205,000 bond.
