Smoke Shop Employees Charged After Inspections, Shelton Police Say
The investigation is ongoing and additional charges are expected, police said.
SHELTON, CT — On May 9, the Shelton Detective Bureau along with the Department of Consumer Protection, Department of Revenue Services and the Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services conducted inspections of four Shelton smoke shops.
Prior to inspection, underage persons were sent into each shop to purchase tobacco products, police said.
The shops inspected were Smoke City located at 719 Bridgeport Ave., Breeze 2 located at 874 Bridgeport Ave., Shelton Smoker located at 500 Howe Ave., and Puff City located 405 River Road.

Smoke City and Smoke World sold tobacco or a vape product to a minor without requesting identification, police said. Puff City and Breeze 2 were in compliance with this check, police said.
"During the inspections, cannabis products that the store did not have the proper license to sell along with illegal cannabis products were located at Smoke City, Breeze 2, and Shelton Smoker," police said in a news release. "These products included gummies, loose marijuana cigarettes, high THC vape and electronic cigarettes, several synthetic cannabinoids, and other THC products. Puff City was in compliance with items for sale. The store employees who sold the products at each shop were charged for sale of a vape product to an underage person on scene. The investigation is ongoing and additional charges are expected."
