Special Election Announced In Shelton

Gov. Ned Lamont has ordered a special election to fill the vacant seat in the 113th House District following Jason Perillo's resignation.

SHELTON, CT — A special election will be held Tuesday, April 22 to fill the vacancy for former State Rep. Jason Perillo’s seat in the Connecticut General Assembly, Gov. Ned Lamont announced Friday.

Perillo resigned from his seat in the 113th Assembly District, which consists of a portion of Shelton, on Feb. 28 after being elected as state senator in the 21st District. Perillo, a Republican, defeated Democrat Tony Afriyie in the special election to succeed former State Sen. Kevin Kelly.

Under state law, the governor is required to issue a writ of special election within 10 days of a seat in the General Assembly becoming vacant, and a special election must be held 46 days after the writ is issued.
