SHELTON, CT — A teenager was seriously injured after being struck by a vehicle during a street takeover reported over the weekend in Shelton, according to media reports.

The Shelton Herald reports officers were called to a Bridgeport Avenue parking lot Sunday around 1:30 a.m. after a person was struck by a vehicle in a street takeover.

Shelton Police Det. Christopher Nugent confirmed Monday in an email to Patch the person struck was a 17 year-old juvenile.

NBC Connecticut reports the teen was struck by a vehicle driving recklessly in the parking lot and taken to St. Vincent's Hospital in Bridgeport for treatment of serious injuries.

WTNH News 8 reports multiple vehicles fled from the area when officers arrived.
