Shelton resident Valerie Mingrone, a freshman in the Trumbull Agriscience Program, wants to help shelter dogs and people.
Mingrone is trying to raise money for a (Shelton) Perry Hill School sixth-grader, Jackie Turiano, who "is in desperate need of a diabetic alert dog."
"Jackie has Type I diabetes and also suffers from a severe bleeding condition. The event is a Pack Walk where people can either bring their dogs, or you can walk without a dog," said Margie Mingrone.

Valerie and Jackie, together, will be leading The Pack for Jackie at approximately 1 p.m.
For more information on Jackie's story, please visit www.headsuphounds.org. The organization rehabilitates shelter dogs and makes them diabetic alert dogs.
"Valerie had never met Jackie before but learned about her from a speech a teacher gave who donated funds to help Jackie in her quest to secure a diabetic alert dog during a church service at Huntington Congregational in October," Mingrone said.
More information about the event can also be found on Facebook.
The Dog Park is at Nells Rock Road and Shelton Avenue (Rt. 108).
