Here's what's happening around town today

  1. Yesterday's weather was a bit of a stormy surprise with rain, thunder and hail. Some areas of Shelton even lost power during the evening. Today looks like it will be different. The National Weather Service predicts the following: Sunny, with a high near 87. Northwest wind between 5 and 9 mph. At night, partly cloudy with a low around 61. North wind between 3 and 6 mph.
  2. Head to between 2 - 10 p.m. to have a frozen treat and support the Angel Hearts Foundation of Seymour. All profits from your purchase will be , the primary goal of which is to provide families in medical crisis with resources to reduce the financial stress on the family during the crisis phase. Bring your friends and family and help families dealing with medical crises.
  3. Trap Falls Kennel Club is hosting a . Local veterinarian Dr. Susan Block will be talking about what to do for your dog in an emergency situation and what you can do before getting to your veterinarian. Dr. Block will address medical issues, some of which can be addressed with what is in your home first aid kit. The session will take place at 7:15 p.m. at - Shelton Lakes (5 Lake Rd.)
  4. The Childbirth Center at Griffin Hospital in Derby hosts a facilitated support and social group for new and expectant mothers and their infants up to one year. During the meetings. topics relevant to motherhood are discussed and a playgroup is offered. Interested? Join them from 10 a.m. - noon at 130 Division St.
  5. There is a special Board of Aldermen meeting at 5:30 p.m. tonight in the auditorium. An agenda has not yet been posted, but I will be there and will post information afterwards.
