The following information comes from the Valley United Way, an organization that promotes volunteerism and growth in the Lower Naugatuck Valley.

  • Jones Family Farms to Host 2011-2012 Community Campaign Kickoff

will kick off its 2011-2012 Community Fundraising Campaign on Tuesday, September 27 at in Shelton. 

Second term Campaign Chairman, Joseph Pagliaro Jr., will be announcing the campaign goal for this year and introducing his Campaign Cabinet.

The annual Community Campaign helps fund needed programs operated by a wide variety of agencies based in the Valley. Pagliaro noted that in this difficult economic period, the demand for services is greater than ever.

Attendees will also have the opportunity to tour the farm and sample some of their homegrown produce and wine from the vineyards of Jones Family Farms.

  • Il Palio Wine Social to Support Harvest House IV

Valley United Way will be hosting a wine tasting fundraiser at of Shelton on Wednesday, September 7th from 5-8 p.m. to help support this year's harvest House Project. Il Palio is providing the food and Jones Family Farms will provide a wine sampling from their very own vineyards in Shelton.

Tickets are $25 each, are available on a first-come first-serve basis and can be purchased by calling Valley United Way or completing an electronic form here. Raffles, door prizes and gift baskets will be available. Attendees will be able to purchase vouchers that can be redeemed at Jones Family Farms for bottles of wine.

Proceeds from this event will go towards Harvest House IV, which is taking place on September 24th on Shelton's Riverwalk. You can learn much more about this fantastic community project of the Corporate Volunteer Council by clicking here.

 

  • Shelton Schools to Benefit from Back to School Clothes for Kids Program

145 children from Shelton's elementary schools have been selected to receive 2 complete outfits, a winter coat, a pair of sneakers and a backpack filled with school supplies. To date the CVC has outfitted 2,057 Valley children and spent $425,000. Last year 156 students from Mead and Prendergast Schools in Ansonia received individualized boxes of new clothing and supplies to begin the school year.
