Antique Cars and a Road Race

Here's what's happening in and around Shelton Aug. 23, 24 and 25.
  • (Aug. 24) Benefit 5k road race, 9 a.m. Wesley Village will host the fifth annual 5k road race benefit for its programs and the Spooner House 5k road race, starting at 9 a.m.  The 3.1-mile race will begin and end at Wesley Village in the parking lot for Crosby Commons at 580 Long Hill Ave. There is a fun walk, which begins at 8:30 and costs $5. Post race food will be provided by Wesley Village. Event parking will be at Long Hill Elementary School, 565 Long Hill Ave. Registration for the run: $25.   • (Aug. 24) Outdoor movie — The LoraxThe Lorax will show at Veterans Memorial Park, beginning at 8:30 p.m. Sponsored by the Shelton Youth Services Bureau. Bring your own lawn chairs, blankets, refreshments (no alcohol) and bug spray. Downtown Shelton.
  • (Aug. 24) Joanna M. Leone Trumbull author announces Trumbull book signing, Town House Salon, 8 Lake Ave., Trumbull
  • (Aug. 23, 24) St. Jude Church Italian Festival,  Friday 6 p.m. – 10:30 p.m., Saturday 5 p.m. – 10:30 p.m.; 707 Monroe Turnpike, Monroe
  • (Aug. 24) Shelton Farmers Market, 9 a.m. - 1 p.m.
  • (Aug. 25) Antique car show, Free event, with donations accepted to benefit American Cancer Society, Huntington Congregational Church Bruce E. Hartel Memorial Organ Fund.
