Almost Time To Pay The Tax Man In Simsbury

SIMSBURY, CT — The unpleasant inevitability of paying one's taxes was made clear by Simsbury officials recently, as they issued a reminder about them.

According to the town, tax bills and sewer use bills will be mailed out next week on Monday, June 30, and they will be available for viewing/payment online on Tuesday, July 1.

Tax bills are due July 1, and the last day to pay to avoid penalty/interest is Aug. 1.

Sewer Use bills become due July 1 and only have a 30-day billing period with a due date of July 30.

Voters on May 9 approved a budget requiring a tax rate increase of less than a mill.

As a result of the referendum, taxes increased by 0.76 mills, with the tax rate increasing from 32.26 to 33.02.

For a home assessed at $300,000, the new budget translates into a $228 increase in taxes compared to what was paid a year ago.
