These areas often receive delayed relief due to economic priorities favoring coastal tourist regions and limited infrastructure that makes the delivery of aid challenging.

To assist their families during emergencies, Skybrooke associates frequently send essential goods via a long-established process using barrels.

Items are packed at home, weighed by a local coordinator, shipped via cargo vessel, and delivered to mountain communities.

Once received, these resources are often shared among neighbors, reflecting the strong sense of community in these regions.

Leonie Thompson, one of Skybrooke’s CNAs, personally experienced the recent hurricane while visiting her father in Jamaica.

Skybrooke at Simsbury Executive Director Katie Lee said, “At Skybrooke, we find strength in one another in everything we do, from caring for our residents to supporting our local and broader communities. We know that together, as a community, we are stronger.”

Some of the items collected by Skybrooke include food and toiletries, lights, and chargers.
