Simsbury-Granby Rotary Recognizes Local Students

The Simsbury-Granby Rotary Club recently recognized several outstanding Simsbury High School students for their unique accomplishments. Janiel Johnson (badminton) and Devin Conley (basketball) recieved the 2012 Simsbury High School Elmer Vincent scholarship.  

Awarded annually by the Club, the Elmer Vincent scholarship recognizes a male and female athlete at Simsbury High School who is chosen by their coach for their outstanding leadership and dedication to their respective athletic teams.  Janiel and Devin are set to attend Brigham Young University and Johns Hopkins University respectively this fall. 

The Club also recognized Jack Polizzi and Margot Reed for thier participation in the Rotary Youth Leadership Award (RYLA) session at Springfield College.  Two Simsbury students are sposored by the Club each year to participate in this one-day leadership training and team building excercize aimed at identifying future community leaders

The awards were presented at a recent Rotary meeting by the Club's youth activities coordinator Keith Wetjen.
 
The Simsbury-Granby Rotary Club is a service organization made up of active local members focused on community and international service projects. The Club meets weeks at 7:15 AM at Hopmeadow and welcomes new members interested in becoming part of the Club.
