Avon Sexual Assault Suspect's DNA Compared in Simsbury Homicide Investigation

The DNA of the man accused of sexual assault in Avon was checked for a match in the ongoing Simsbury homicide investigation, reports the Hartford Courant.

The woman who was assaulted fought her attacker during the assault, and in the process, collected his DNA beneath her fingernails.

The DNA did not match the evidence Simsbury police recovered during their investigation of the killing of Melissa Millan.

On Nov. 20, 2014, police received a report that a woman was found on the roadway of Iron Horse Boulevard.

The woman, later identified as Millan, 54, was then taken to St. Francis Hospital, where she was pronounced dead.

Her death has been ruled a homicide.
