Big Changes Announced For Section Of Simsbury/Canton Road
Police from Simsbury and Canton announced the changes Wednesday, hoping for a safer environment for motorists.
SIMSBURY/CANTON, CT — A busy section of local roadway connecting two towns has had significant changes, with local police from both towns hoping those changes will make it safer.
On Wednesday, May 21, the Simsbury Police Department and the Canton Police Department announced that speed limits on the roadway have been lowered, and no trucks are allowed on them.
The impacted roads are Washburn Road in Simsbury and Notch Road in Canton.

According to a joint announcement from both police departments, the speed limits on both roadways, which appear on the map as one with name changes in each town, are lowered to 25 miles per hour instead of 30.
Meanwhile, police said, through-truck traffic is now forbidden on those roads, with signs going up indicating such.

"We kindly ask all drivers to slow down and comply with the updated traffic provisions," wrote Simsbury/Canton police.
