Costumed Critters Starring In 'Donny's Dash' Race In Simsbury

The annual fundraiser for the Boys & Girls Clubs of Hartford is slated for this weekend at Simsbury Meadows.

SIMSBURY, CT — If you happen to see a bunch of costumed mascots strolling through Simsbury this Saturday, you're OK.

There's nothing to worry about. You're just watching another prominent road race that aims to raise money for a good cause, specifically, the Boys & Girls Clubs of Hartford.

The stampede of costumed crusaders will be part of the 2025 Donny’s Dash 5k, which is set for Saturday, Oct. 25, at the Simsbury Meadows Performing Arts Center, 22 Iron Horse Blvd, Simsbury.

Recently, Hartford Mayor Arunan Arulampalam teamed up with University of Connecticut basketball legend Donny Marshall, the Connecticut Sun, and the Hartford Yard Goats to host a rather unique event, a "Mascot Marathon."

Donny’s Dash, which benefits the Boys & Girls Clubs of Hartford, features a USATF Certified 5k Course and a 1-mile Fitness Walk. It is organized by the Hartford Marathon Foundation.

Joining the runners this year will be mascots from the Sun, the Hartford Yard Goats, the Hartford Marathon, and the Boys & Girls Clubs of Hartford.

This year’s annual Donny’s Dash 5k has a definite Halloween theme through the scenic Farmington Valley, and runners are encouraged to don their best costumes.

In fact, [prizes will be awarded for the most creative Halloween costume.

Youths 16 and under can participate for free, and kids are also invited to join the free CT Sun Fun Run for ages 2-11.
