The Friends of the Simsbury Public Library Sponsor Cultural Trips
Town residents can travel with the FSPL in the spring and fall on these well planned excursions.
The Friends of the Simsbury Public Library sponsored a spring trip traveling to the New York Botanical Garden on June 5th. The highlight of the trip was a guided tour of the Van Gogh Exhibit, "Painting With Flowers".
It was a sunny day to discover the beauty of this national gem. Trip participants were from not only Simsbury, but surrounding towns as well. The visit included a guided tour of the Van Gogh Exhibit, Painting With Flowers", the NYBG premier exhibit this year.
A Chef's buffet luncheon in a private dining room was enjoyed on the garden grounds. And then a tram ride included a 30-minute audio narrated tour around the grounds.

The Rockefeller Rose Garden was in full bloom and the native Plant Garden provided much needed afternoon shade, both of which were explored at leisure after the luncheon.
Another trip will be planned in the fall for the first week in November. Information will be found in the autumn edition of the Doorway, on the Friends of the Simsbury Library Facebook, as well as on the Library's website. FSPL Trip Coordinator, Anne Erickson says that “trips fill up quickly, so early registration is recommended.”
