Historic Tree, New Trail On Simsbury Zoning Board Docket Tonight

The Simsbury Zoning Commission has 3 items on its June 16 agenda, including applications at the town's historic tree and for a new trail.

SIMSBURY, CT — Local land-use officials tonight (Monday, June 16) are hosting a special public hearing for three items that could impact the local community.

The Simsbury Zoning Commission meets at 7 p.m. at Simsbury Town Hall, 933 Hopmeadow St., inside the board of education's conference room

There, public comments will be heard on the following applications:

• An application from the Town of Simsbury to build an information kiosk at the town's historic Pinchot Sycamore Tree Park on Hartford Road.

It is believed to be the largest tree in Connecticut.

• An application to create an after-school learning program site at the Trinity Episcopal Church, 11 Church St., Simsbury.

• An application from the Town of Simsbury to build a new, 3,000-foot multi-use trail on Tariffville Road between Hopmeadow Street and Curtiss Park.

Following public testimony, the zoning board could close the hearing tonight and, possibly, act on the applications.
