Iconic Simsbury FD Landmark's Renovation Is Complete
The Town of Simsbury on Monday, Sept. 8, will host a small ceremony to mark the monument's recent renovation.

SIMSBURY, CT — A local landmark in town has recently received a much-needed facelift and, early next week, the town will celebrate the accomplishment.
The Simsbury Volunteer Fire Co.'s clock tower, which is located on Hopmeadow Street in the center of the village and near Simsbury Town Hall, has been renovated, repainted, and updated.
On Monday, Sept. 8, the town will host a special ceremony there at 5:30 p.m. to celebrate the recent SVFC updates. It will take place before the regular Simsbury Board of Selectmen meeting that night.

Simsbury Town Manager Marc Nelson updated selectmen on the refurb at their last meeting Aug. 11.
"When you get a chance, come see our renovated clock tower, courtesy of our Simsbury Volunteer Fire Company and About Time, and the updated surrounding brickwork," wrote Nelson in his town manager report.

He said the tower has a new spire, a plaque commemorating the rebuild, gold accents, and a fresh paint job.
The town's "historic brick walkway and iconic clock tower" was built in 1994 to celebrate the fire company's 50th anniversary.
Earlier this year, the SVFC embarked on a fundraising campaign to renovate the clock and walkway area for its 80th anniversary a year earlier.
