Coming in ahead of Simsbury were Weston High School (No. 1), New Canaan (No. 2), Staples High School in Westport (No. 3) and Darien High School (4). Coming in right behind Simsbury were high schools in Ridgefield (6), Wilton (7), Greenwich (8), Glastonbury (9) and Amity Regional High School (10), which serves Woodbridge and Bethany.

The study graded and ranked schools after looking into these factors: academics, teachers, extracurricular activities (for all three of which, Simsbury received an “A+” grade), health and safety, sports and fitness (for these, Simsbury received a grade of “A”), resources and facilities (“A-”), a parent/student survey (Simsbury scored 4.0 out of a possible 5.0), and “student culture & diversity” in which Simsbury bombed with a ”C+”.
Niche says the ”student culture & diversity” factor “which incorporates statistics and student, alumni, and parent surveys regarding student culture and diversity at the school.”

The study ranked 100 high schools in Connecticut and many more elsewhere. Among the high schools that the website ranked the 100 best in the country were Weston (No. 84), New Canaan (No. 85) and Westport (No. 94), the only schools from Connecticut on that list.
Correction: An earlier version of this article stated that only Weston and New Canaan appeared on the top-100 rankings. Not so. Westport was there at No. 94.
