Last Day to Renew Dog Licenses Without Penalty

Today (Friday, June 28) is the last day to renew a dog license without penalty, town Clerk Carol Keily said.

Renewal fees for those done at Town Hall by 4:30 p.m. today (or a mailed form postmarked by June 30) are $8 for sprayed and neutered dogs and $19 for others.

A late fee of $1 is assessed per month, meaning the charge for July would be $9 and $20.

To help bring awareness to licensing the town clerk's office, with cooperation with the Simsbury police department, held its Top Dog contest in May, with a ceremony for the winners in June.

"We had great participation," Keily said, adding that some three winners were rescue dogs. "It's a lot of fun for us. We work with the police department and get the word out to license your dog."
