Learn To Save Lives At Drug OD Training Session In Simsbury

The town is hosting a special training session on Monday, March 25, to teach participants how to administer Narcan to those overdosing.

SIMSBURY, CT — When somebody overdoses on opioid medication, a simple nasal spray can sometimes be all that stands between living and dying.

In Simsbury, Monday, March 25, Simsbury Youth Services is hosting a special training program to administer Narcan, which is a life-saving drug that can reverse the effects of an opioid overdose.

The program is free and it will take place at Eno Memorial Hall at 754 Hopmeadow St., Simsbury, from 6 to 7 p.m.

"Participants will be trained in how to administer nasal Narcan and receive information on how to obtain Narcan," wrote the town in an announcement.

In addition, free Narcan kits will be provided.

The program is especially useful for folks who work in public areas or in large employer/scholastic settings.

Should someone fall ill due to an overdose, someone trained to properly use Narcan can save a life.
