Major Traffic Impacts Expected In Simsbury For Upcoming 'Dream Ride'
The three-day festival that benefits a prominent nonprofit will feature motorcycle and classic car cruises through the area this weekend.
SIMSBURY, CT — A major fundraising celebration for a prominent nonprofit organization will impact traffic on Simsbury roadways this Saturday, Aug. 23, according to local police.
This weekend, Aug. 22 to Aug. 24, is the annual 'Dream Ride Experience'at the Farmington Polo Club in Farmington, proceeds benefitting the Hometown Foundation out of Cheshire.
On Saturday, Aug. 23, two major events that are part of the three-day celebration will spill over and impact traffic in Simsbury, the Simsbury Police Department said this week.

As a result, police warn that two events will require motorists to be patient. They are:
• A Dream Ride motorcycle ride will take place, and riders will go on a 40-mile trek through many area towns, including Simsbury.

The ride starts in Farmington at 11 a.m. and it will travel into Avon, then north onto Nod Road in Simsbury.
Police said the motorcycles will then go west onto Route 185, north onto Hopmeadow Street (Route 10), and west onto Stratton Brook Road, eventually going west onto Route 309 toward Canton.
• Later in the day, another 'Dream Ride Experience" event will feature a convoy of 200 classic cars entering Simsbury via Route 167 at Route 44 at about 4:15 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 23.
Simsbury police said that the convoy will go north on Bushy Hill Road (Route 167), then east on Latimer Lane, north on Hopmeadow Street (Route 10), east onto Hartford Road (Route 185), and then south onto Nod Road.
"Both of these events are expected to cause significant traffic delays in Simsbury on the dates and times listed above," wrote the Simsbury PD.
Police said delays of 20 to 30 minutes are possible for each event.
"We encourage everyone to plan ahead to avoid the traffic, and thank you for your understanding and support of this generous organization," wrote the SPD.
