SIMSBURY, CT — Local officials will officially say "goodbye" this week to a mud pit and "hello" to a newly renovated, pristine town pond at a popular local park.
The community is invited to join Simsbury First Selectman Wendy Mackstutis, Simsbury Town Manager Marc S. Nelson, and Simsbury Director of Public Works/Town Engineer Thomas J. Roy to celebrate the reopening of Town Forest Pond.

The reopening ceremony will be held on Wednesday, Oct. 8, at 12:30 p.m. at Town Forest Park, 86 Town Forest Road, West Simsbury.
The pond was lowered and had over 2,000 cubic yards of sediment and debris removed to revive the iconic Simsbury swimming hole.

Work to rehab the pond temporarily turned it into a massive and unsightly mud pit, but that is no more.
According to the town, the pond was "choked by sediments," turning the point into more of a mud pit than a clean, enjoyable swimming hole.
While swimming season is no more in 2025, when folks can swim in 2026, they'll have a new, reinvigorated swimming hole to enjoy.
