Simsbury Dems Deny Social Media Post Celebrating Kirk's Assassination
The Simsbury Democratic Town Committee said a social media post that appeared to be linked to them did not come from them.

SIMSBURY, CT — Shortly after the assassination of right-wing activist Charlie Kirk in Utah on Wednesday, the Simsbury Democratic Town Committee found itself front and center amid the storm.
Kirk was shot and killed at a speaking event in front of a large crowd at Utah Valley University on Wednesday afternoon.
Reportedly, a poster on the Bluesky social media app — with a name that included "SimsburyDems" in its title — wrote a message celebrating the gruesome shooting death of the MAGA commentator and friend to President Donald Trump.

The Simsbury Democratic Town Committee, on Wednesday afternoon, however, condemned the Bluesky post, which appears to have been taken down.
Simsbury's Democrats said the post celebrating Kirk's death was "not posted by this account, the Simsbury DTC or anyone associated with the Simsbury Democratic Town Committee," wrote the committee on its Facebook page.

"We do not know who made that account and posted that disgusting and vile comment," wrote the Simsbury DTC on Wednesday. "We wish we did."
"It is horrible and it is hurtful and we condemn the post but, more importantly, condemn the horrific violence that tragically took a life today," continued Simsbury Democrats.
In the party's first post after the assassination, the Simsbury DTC called it another 'instance of senseless gun violence."
"We need to come together to address these issues as a community. Our thoughts are with the grieving family."
