Simsbury HS Sports Hall Of Fame Names 2026 Class

SIMSBURY, CT — Tickets are on sale now for a special dinner honoring some of Simsbury High School's greatest athletes, teams, coaches, and supporters.

The Simsbury High School (SHS) Athletic Hall of Fame recently announced the Class of 2026 Inductees for the Simsbury Trojans Hall of Fame.

Highlights from this class include two Connecticut State Players of the Year; school scoring records in hockey, lacrosse, and field hockey; nine state championships; and 15 all-league, nine all-state, and two all-American recognitions.

Rounding out the honors are multiple Connecticut Hall of Fame coaches and two state championship soccer teams.

“This is an amazing group of people. Moving into Induction year seven of the hall of fame, I have become even more impressed with our storied traditions at Simsbury High School. The more I learn about the individual stories of those who walked these halls and graced these fields, courts, and rinks, the more honored I am to be a part of this community. The town of Simsbury is simply a wonderful place to live and go to school,” said Simsbury High School Athletics Hall of Fame President Roger Coombes.

The hall of fame recognizes and honors those Simsbury High School athletes, coaches, administrators, and supporters who excelled in their respective sports or coaching/support roles and who helped to bring honor, recognition, distinction, and excellence to Simsbury High School.

There are several categories of awards: athlete, coach, administrator, athletic team, and community contributor.

The following Inductees comprise the Simsbury Trojans Hall of Fame Class of 2026:

Athletes:

Grace Hagan Tucker – Class of 1981

Michael Koenig – Class of 1982

Joshua Gilbert – Class of 2003

Emily Buda Briggs – Class of 2009

Athlete/Community Contributor:

Richard Cialfi – Class of 1948

Teams:

1992 Girls Soccer State Champions

1992 Boys Soccer State Champions

Coaches:

Pamela Hammersmith – SHS physical education teacher and coach for 32 years

Plaques honoring the Class of 2026 will be permanently installed in a dedicated area of the athletics wing of the high school.

An induction celebration dinner will take place Saturday, Dec. 27, at The Riverview, Weatogue. Seats are limited. Individual seats are $120. Table sponsorship (signage and dinner for eight) $960.
