Simsbury Library Will Give Out At-Home COVID Tests Starting Next Week

Tests will be distributed on a first-come, first-served basis with a limit of one kit per person (each kit contains two tests).

SIMSBURY, CT — Starting Monday, the Simsbury Public Library will begin distributing at-home COVID-19 test kits to the public.

The town has "a supply" available (officials didn't specify the number of tests on hand), and they will be given out on a first-come, first-served basis while supplies last. Kits are limited to one per person, and each one contains two tests.

Community members can pick up the test kits at the Simsbury Public Library's (725 Hopmeadow St.) upper level circulation desk during normal business hours, which are as follows:

  • Monday-Thursday: 9:30am-8:30pm
  • Friday: 9:30am-5:30pm
  • Saturday: 9:30am-5:30pm
  • Sunday: 1:00pm-5:00pm

Home kits are most effective for testing someone with symptoms, the town said.

According to the Farmington Valley Health District, a positive test should be treated as a positive test, while a symptomatic individual with a negative at-home test should still take precautions and should seek out a PCR test.
