Simsbury Looking to Build Trail

The town is looking to build a trail that would connect the Tariffville section of town, reports the Hartford Courant.

The estimated cost of the project would be $385,000. Simsbury would be responsible for $80,000 if it were to receive a a $305,000 grant from the Connecticut Recreation Trails Program that it has applied for.

A 0.6 mile, multiuse trail connection from the Farmington Valley Greenway, at Routes 10/202 and 315, to Curtiss Park/Pattison Park in Tariffville is proposed.

The 10-foot-wide, paved trail will begin at a proposed bicycle roundabout at the intersections of Routes 10/202 and 315. It will continue on the north side of Route 315, within the state Department of Transportation right of way.

At the Farmington River, the trail crosses on an existing walkway on the north side of the bridge. The trail will then continue on town property, ending near the easterly edge of Curtiss Park/Pattison Park.
