Simsbury Mobilizes To Respond To Possible SNAP Shutdown

With the federal government about to cancel food benefits for millions on Saturday, Nov. 1, Simsbury is offering ways to help and get help.

SIMSBURY, CT — With the federal government potentially forcing millions nationally to go hungry with the elimination of SNAP benefits, Simsbury, on Friday, announced ways to help and to get help.

Simsbury Community and Social Services released a list of resources folks in need can access in town should they suffer from food insecurity.

Those services have always been available, but with the government shutdown possibly forcing SNAP benefits to cease on Saturday, Nov. 1, it is expected that more will need them.

In addition, the Town of Simsbury listed the myriad ways folks can support those causes that keep all of the community fed.

Among several options, the town operates the Simsbury Food Pantry through the Simsbury Community and Social Services Department.
