Simsbury Wants Folks To Step Up And Serve
The town has put out a call for people to volunteer on several boards/commissions, with many openings available following the elections.

SIMSBURY, CT — One of the situations that can arise with municipal elections every year is the need to also fill spots on myriad appointed boards and commissions.
Simsbury is no different.
In fact, the Town of Simsbury in recent days has put out a call for folks to step up and volunteer to serve their town.

Simsbury First Selectman Wendy Mackstutis, who was elected to another term earlier this month, explained that this is typical every local election cycle.
She said those openings are effective Dec. 1 and in January 2026.

"Some appointees return, but we are always looking for newly interested residents to step up," wrote Mackstutis on her Facebook page.
She said folks can be from one of the parties — Democrat or Republican — or they can be unaffiliated with a party.
Mackstutis asked that those interested visit a special webpage the town has set up for boards and commissions.
That page includes a list of the boards/committees, the members, vacancies, expiring terms, and how volunteers can apply to serve.
"Please check them out and complete a volunteer form if you are interested in a spot," she said. " You can also reach out directly to the party chair you are affiliated to express interest but also complete the form."
The Simsbury Board of Selectmen will be bringing these forward at one of its January meetings.
