Suicides, Overdoses Targeted In Simsbury Program

The free training session will take place in Simsbury on Oct. 27, with registrants currently being sought.

SIMSBURY, CT — The town's youth services bureau and the local health department are seeking registrants for a special workshop next week that could save a life.

The Simsbury Youth Services Bureau and the Farmington Valley Health District are collaborating on a program offering the public free "Narcan & QPR Training."

It will take place Thursday, Oct. 26, from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at the Eno Memorial Old Courtroom, 754 Hopmeadow St., Simsbury.

The program is free for all Simsbury residents.

Narcan is a life-saving medication that can be administered by anyone to people suffering from opioid drug overdoses.

"QPR" training, meanwhile, is a method of training used to help people prevent possible suicides and it's called "Question, Persuade, Refer."

Training for both contingencies will take place in Simsbury.
