'Sustainability Fair' In Simsbury To Showcase Green Living

The regional event will take place at the Simsbury Public Library on Saturday, May 4.

SIMSBURY, CT — A special event at the local library on Saturday, May 4, will celebrate sustainability and everything aimed at making the earth a better place while living our lives.

The Simsbury Public Library, 725 Hopmeadow St., is hosting the regional "Sustainability Fair" from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., with various organizations from around the region will be represented at the event.

The program is a mix of demonstrations of sustainability practices, children's activities, food trucks, and fun, educational programs that promote living with the environment in mind.

Among the highlights are a seed swap, composting demonstration, organic vegetable sales, and electric vehicle demonstrations.

In addition, a trade show featuring several "green" companies will be located inside the library in the "Friends of the Simsbury Library Program Room."

Throughout the event, talks centering on sustainability topics will be held in the library's Tariffville room.

Meanwhile, guests are invited to bring their bikes, small appliances or garments (and, even, broken chairs) to the event's "Repair Cafe," where handy folks can help guests fix, rather than replace, their stuff.
