Threat Against Simsbury HS Not 'Credible:' Authorities

SIMSBURY, CT — The trend of unfounded threats against Connecticut high schools this year hit Simsbury High School on Tuesday.

According to a joint statement by Simsbury Police Chief Nick Boulter and Simsbury Superintendent of Schools Matt Curtis, the SPD received a call about threats to occupants of SHS at about 1:35 p.m. Tuesday.

"A police response and investigation was immediate that included communication with the district and school administration," wrote Curtis and Boulter.

"A coordinated effort between police and school staff quickly determined that the school environment was safe and the threat was not credible."

School and police officials said the heightened police presence during dismissal time Tuesday afternoon "was out of an abundance of caution."
