Friday Weather Related Problems in the Valley Included Fires, Road Closure and Lightning Strikes

Weather related problems were numerous across the Valley Friday afternoon, including a house fire on Birch Knoll in Canton, a house fire in Avon, road closures in Simsbury and a lightning strike to the tower on top of Canton Town Hall. 

Greg Wasoka, owner of America the Beautiful Country store in Collinsville said he heard a loud sizzle and felt the shock when the lightning struck. 

"It was just like a shock of energy running through everything," he said. 

In Simsbury numerous problems included the closure of a portion of Bushy Hill for downed poles and wires. Other roads were affected by storm-related issues as well.
