West Simsbury Resident, Dog Competing in Canine Olympics
Mary Baier and Miss Gypsy Rose Lee will be in Boston for this weekend's competition.

On Saturday, a West Simsbury resident and her incredibly athletic Jack Russell Terrier will be competing in the Jack Russell Hurdle Racing event of the Purina Pro Plan Incredible Dog Challenge Eastern Regional at Joe Moakley Park in Boston.
Mary Baier and Miss Gypsy Rose Lee (a 7-year-old female) will be competing against other Jack Russell Terriers, including ones from Glastonbury and Ashford.
The competitors have been training Jack Russell Terriers for years, and are very passionate about their dogs and this sport. In this event, Jack Russell Terriers race each other over a series of hurdles. The first dog through the gate wins.

This is the 18th annual Eastern Regional of the Purina Pro Plan Incredible Dog Challenge, but it is the first time the event is travelling to Boston.
This premiere canine sporting event features dogs competing in a variety of “Olympic-style” events, including dog diving, freestyle flying disc, head-to-head weave poles, Jack Russell hurdle racing, and agility. The day’s winners are automatically qualified for the National Finals, held in St. Louis, MO in September.
