SOUTHBURY, CT — Firefighters had a busy Saturday responding to eight calls, including two accidents at the same spot on Old Waterbury Road.
Both crashes occurred in front of 705 Old Waterbury Road, according to Fire Chief Robert Hamila.
At about 8:30 a.m., firefighters were dispatched to a single-car accident on Old Waterbury Road. They arrived to find a car on its side. Both people in the car were helped out of the vehicle by a passerby. No one was injured.

Hamila said the conditions were rainy when both accidents occurred. He said the two accidents happening at the same spot appears to be a coincidence, though he said the fire department has investigated.
On the same day, firefighters also responded to a chimney fire on Reservoir Road. Firefighters used chains to knock loose creosote and put out the fire with a dry chem extinguisher. Crews used thermal imaging cameras to check for any extension of the fire and found none.
