Connecticut faith leaders describe how the Hanukkah message of light, resilience, and visible Jewish pride is guiding local responses and drawing more people to participate in holiday rituals.
   

• James Edward Kowalski (primepublishers.com) — Longtime Southbury resident and U.S. Army veteran James Edward Kowalski, 83, has passed away after a decades-long battle with cancer. Calling hours will be Friday, Dec. 19, and a funeral with full military honors Saturday, Dec. 20, both at Midd-South Catholic (Sacred Heart) Church on Main Street South, with memorial donations directed to The Mustard Seed Fund in Southbury.
