CT Native Lindsey Jacobellis Competes In 5th Winter Olympics
The Snowboard Cross star, who grew up in Danbury and lives in Roxbury, is going to the Beijing, Olympics 2022, a record fifth Winter Games.

ROXBURY, CT — For Snowboard Cross superstar Lindsey Jacobellis, maybe the fifth time will be the charm.
The Connecticut native, who grew up in Danbury and lives in Roxbury, will compete in her signature event in the 2022 Beijing Games next week, her fifth Winter Olympics, a testament to her dedication, perseverance and talent.
By qualifying for the American team for a fifth time, Jacobellis joins Kelly Clark as the only U.S. women to compete in five Winter Olympics.

Snowboard Cross is a slalom-type race pitting several snowboarders against each other barreling down a mountain course. The sport is thrilling to watch, but is also brutal, with riders sometimes crashing into one another, or crashing in turns or over jumps on the course.
Jacobellis is all too familiar with the rough nature of the sport.

She won a silver medal at the 2006 Games in Turin, Italy, but missed out on the gold when she crashed late in the finals and settled for second.
In the 2010 Games in Vancouver, she crashed and did not qualify for the finals, and at the 2014 Games in Sochi, Russia, she crashed again and missed the finals.
At the 2018 Games in Pyeongchang, South Korea, Jacobellis ended up in fourth place, less than a second away from being on the podium.
Despite her setbacks at the Olympics, Jacobellis is one of the sports's most-decorated riders, winning Snowboard Cross gold medals in multiple World Championships and X Games races.
The 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics begins Friday, with Jacobellis's event next week. Women's Snowboard Cross qualifying races will be telecast at 10 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 8, on the USA Network, NBC's Peacock streaming service, and NBCOlympics.com.
The Finals in women's Snowboard Cross will be telecast at 1:30 p.m. the next day, Feb. 9, on the same channel and streaming sites. The Mixed Team Snowboard Cross Finals will air at 9 p.m. on Feb. 11 on NBC, Peacock and NBCOlympics.com.
