Documentary Marking Historic Southbury Event to Air on CPTV Next Month
The documentary follows the efforts of a Southbury farming community who opposed the construction of a Nazi camp in town.

“Home of the Brave”, a documentary that traces Southbury’s efforts to drive a pro-Nazi group out of town will air on Connecticut Public Television next month, the Republican-American reports.
The film will air on Nov. 21 at 8:30 p.m. and on Nov. 23 at 3 p.m. This year will mark the 75th anniversary of the events that took place in 1937.
According to the paper, the Ion Bank Foundation has paid to upgrade video and music licenses that will allow the film to be shown on CPTV. The licenses for the historic video footage and original music were purchased for local viewing only.

The 38-minute documentary was created by local filmmaker Scott Sniffen.The film follows the efforts of a small farming community in Southbury who resisted the building of a camp off George’s Hill Road by the German-American Bund, the Nazi Party’s U.S. wing.
According to the paper it was the first and only time a community stopped the pro-Nazi group.
