State Approves Funding For Southbury Training School

The grant is intended to improve living and working conditions at the Southbury Training School.

SOUTHBURY, CT — State funding approved this week will support infrastructure improvements at the Southbury Training School, according to a Facebook post by officials.

The commission approved $500,000 in grant-in-aid funding for heating, ventilation, and air conditioning improvements at the Southbury Training School. The funding was authorized by the state legislature and approved by the Bond Commission.

The Southbury Training School serves individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities, many of whom are elderly. Earlier this year, state officials reaffirmed their commitment to keeping the facility open to continue serving its remaining residents.
