Driver Extricated In Multi-Vehicle I-84 Crash In Southbury

A driver was injured and had to be extricated from a vehicle in a Monday evening wreck.

SOUTHBURY, CT — A driver was injured and had to be extricated from a vehicle in an I-84 wreck in Southbury on Monday evening, according to the Southbury Fire Department. The crash was reported at 5:43 p.m. near exit 14.

Firefighters arrived on the scene to find a multi-vehicle accident that involved an SUV in the high-speed lane which had been heavily damaged. The driver was still inside the vehicle.

Sandy Hook Fire & Rescue was dispatched for mutual aid as the Southbury Fire Rescue truck was out of service for annual maintenance, according to the fire department. Crews from Southbury and Sandy Hook extricated the driver from the vehicle.
