Fire Hydrants in Southbury Now on Town GIS Website
Every hydrant in town was located using GPS this past summer.
Southbury’s geographic information system now has data that identifies and locates every fire hydrant in the town, Bill Bittar reports for the Republican-American.
The data benefits both homeowners and firefighters and is accessible to all residents via the Southbury GIS website. The data is especially beneficial to firefighters who will be able to locate the nearest fire hydrants when they are on call.
Deputy Fire Marshall Dan Tomascak and intern Taylor Verbickas identified the fire hydrants using a GPS this past summer, the paper reports.
