Rita A. Vileišytė Bagdonas, 105, died Aug. 17, 2025; a Yale University librarian who earlier earned a law degree in Vilnius before immigrating to the U.S. in 1951, she enjoyed gardening into her centenarian years, was active in Lithuanian cultural life, wrote a memoir in 2008, and was honored in 2018 by the President of Lithuania for her role as a direct link to the nation’s independence history.

John “Jack” T. O’Brien, 70, died Aug. 1, 2025; a two-time country club golf champion and lifelong fan of the Rangers and Mets, he enjoyed nightly talks with his son, caring for animals, and feeding the birds in his yard.

Maureen Elizabeth Metcalf, 88, died on Aug. 27, 2025, after a life that included work in banking and customer relations, teaching CCD, coaching Pop Warner cheerleading, volunteering locally, riding horses daily in her youth, and enjoying fashion, interior design, and holiday gatherings filled with games and laughter.

Kenneth J. Acocella Jr., 41, died on Aug. 27, 2025; he was a music and video game enthusiast, collector of films and TV box sets, frequent concertgoer, strong advocate of liberal ideals, and hoped to become a drug counselor after years of battling illness.

William P. Kelly, 88, died Jul 30, 2025; a U.S. National Guard sergeant and longtime Bristol Company employee who later worked part-time at Elaine’s Flower Shop and Gainfield Farms Golf Course, he enjoyed fishing, golf, bowling, Yankees baseball, UConn basketball, and afternoon coffee with friends.
