Barbara Farrell Benson, 93, passed away on Jan. 16, 2025; a registered nurse for over 30 years specializing in pediatric and geriatric care, she later became an antiques dealer with a passion for china and crystal, was an avid reader, knitter, traveler, and cook who loved entertaining, spent summers on Cape Cod, and was a devoted UConn women’s basketball supporter, famously baking and delivering treats to the team for years.

Judith “Judy” A. (Briggs) Von Holtz, 82, passed away on Jan. 9, 2025; she worked at People's Bank, the Region 15 school system, and the Southbury Public Library for 25 years, was active in church choirs, the Southbury Fireman’s Association Ladies Auxiliary, the Red Hat Society, and served as a Girl Scout leader.
Veronica Therese Gendron, 93, passed away on Jan. 7, 2025; born in Hong Kong, she survived the WWII occupation, later immigrated to the U.S. as a proud naturalized citizen, and spent her life devoted to her family while enjoying classic movies, sentimental songs, scenic landscapes, and a good cup of tea.

Donald Liebeskind, 94, passed away on Jan. 2025; a Princeton and Columbia graduate, he was President of Musler Liebeskind, a women’s retail enterprise, served as President of Temple Israel, held leadership roles with United Way, Saint Mary’s Hospital, and the Jewish Federation of Waterbury, volunteered with Literacy Volunteers, and enjoyed travel, community involvement, and time with family.
Roland D. Hellauer, 85, passed away on Jan. 3, 2025; a heavy equipment operator and member of the Operating Engineers Union, he enjoyed hunting, skeet shooting, collecting antiques, traveling, and spending time with his pets.
Arthur “Art” G. von Holtz, 83, passed away on Jan. 3, 2025; a U.S. Army veteran, he served 25 years with the Connecticut State Police, retiring as a Sergeant, later became Commander of the New Milford Police Department, and was active in the Southbury Fire Department for over 51 years, the Masonic Lodge, and as a Boy Scout Leader.
Mary Ann Dwight, 89, passed away on Jan. 2, 2025; a devoted mother and grandmother, she dedicated her life to raising her family, volunteering with organizations such as soup kitchens, Meals on Wheels, and Saint Vincent DePaul, and supporting those in need while actively participating in her grandchildren’s lives.
